The Art is in the Rug

Seeing Frank Gehry’s collaboration with Ferreia De Sá rugs at Decorex sent us into a rug lusting frenzy. Ferreira De Sá has been producing custom made luxury rugs since 1946. They are a Portuguese family business that upscaled into a popular organisation while remaining traditional and authentic in their craft. Now they have teamed up with the celebrated architect Frank Gehry whose collection was showcased at Decorex, seeing the vibrent, rythemic, playful rugs there brightened up our day. The capsule was revealed just in time because design rugs are all the rage this Autumn. More and more they are regarded as the iconic piece for your home. Far from being boring these new era rugs are detailed and complex, they even seem to have a narrative like a painting would.

If you’re after a designer collaboration The Rug Company is a fantastic place to look. They have worked with a number of big names like Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood. However, it is worth looking at other showrooms. We have had a look around and picked our favourites that stock all kinds of 'rug art'; from geometric and contemporary to classic rugs. Our favourites include like Christopher Farr and Tufenkian for beautiful artisan rugs, and if you want a rug with a story try Emily’s House who specialise in gorgeous, authentic, Nomadic Berber rugs.
